ECREIN+ – European Clusters and Regions for Eco-Innovation Network+

The aim of ECREIN+, an INTERREG IVc project funded by the European Commission, was to identify, through interregional cooperation, the most effective and efficient instruments for the promotion of eco-innovations and investments for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), from which future support mechanisms could then be developed. Available financial support should be specifically adapted to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, in order to ensure the efficient promotion of eco-innovations in Baden-Württemberg and in other European regions. On behalf of the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg, one of the leading partners of this common project and leader of the “Evaluation, Characterisation and Assessment of Instruments for the Promotion of Eco-Innovations” working group, IUWA evaluated the relevant support programmes and financial assistance on the regional, national and also European level, by means of a questionnaire addressed to small and medium-sized enterprises, in terms of their appropriateness, practicality, their usefulness and their level of acceptance.
