Rapid Planning: sustainable infrastructure, environmental and resource management for high dynamic metropolises
Rapid Planning (RP) is an action and user-oriented research project that was developed out of know-how gained from the BMBF (German Minsitry for Education and Research) research programme Future Megacities. It’s aim is to create planning methods that can be quickly implemented with a focus on urban services and infrastructure – especially in the areas of energy, water, waste water and waste – as well as on urban agriculture and industry. The research activites are based on practical experiences in the case cities Kigali (Rwanda), Da Nang (Vietnam) and Assiut (Egypt) and solutions are then implemeted locally. The preliminary studies and workshops that were carried out in 2012 established a solid basis for cooperation with stakeholders from the municipal and regional authorities, univerisities and other partners of the three cities.
